There are ever so many causes for an unhealthy skin. Once we know at least some of theme, we can take steps to prevent or heal the skin, and keep it form and taut.

One of the main reasons for an unhealthy skin is our faulty dies. So, go for well balanced diet with adequate vitamins and the essential minerals.

Care of the skin begins with a healthy diet with adequate vitamins and elimination of stress. Avoid eating fast foods, fried, refined food like white rice, product made from maida, very starchy food, sugar, drinking to much aerated water, etc. Instead, concentrate on food from whole wheat flour,wholegrain, brown rice, fruits and vegetables. Cut down on sugar and starch.

Ayurvedic medications are prepared only from natural herbs, fruits and vegetables. Administering this will not have side effects while a strict diet regimen has to be followed. Caffeine from tea and coffee have to be kept away, at least till the medications is over.

As much as we emphasises “Keep away from fat and oils”. too little of its is also equal bad for our skin, It will lead to cracks and a dry skin.

Ayurveda advocates to use of ghee (clarified butter) or alternately sesame oil. Sesame oil is considered safe. It is also called “nalla oil” in Tamil language. It means good oil.This has lesser cholesterol content. While allowpathy calls for garden-fresh salads, Ayurveda advocates boiled or steamed vegetables.

There are various type of spices incorporated in Ayurveda medicines.It should be part of our daily diet. In addition to having their own therapeutic properties, some of the spices act as carries of the benefits of other foods, especially if it is clove, ginger, pepper, turmeric, etc., which should all be locked and taken.

There are many kinds of herbal teas available in the market. They come with very spicy and flowery flavours, especially green tea, which is very rich in antioxidants, an essential ingredients to fight ageing. Even if the tea extract is rubbed on the kin it has a softening effect.

To benefit of these Herb Tea you have to first check your skin type and then start the treatment.

  • Sensitive Skin
    Refrain from hot spicy foods, Use fennel and licorice which have a cooling property.
  • Oily Skin
    Take a lime juice mixed with crushed ginger before food.
  • Dry Skin
    Drink warm water to which 1/4 teaspoon of crushed cardamom seeds are added.
  • Normal Skin
    Add 1/2 teaspoon of dried ginger powder boiled in water and take with lukewarm water.
