Choosing the Right Soap for your Skin Type
“Detergent” comes from a Latin word meaning “wiping of substance“. Among commercial products, soap is the best detergent though there are home-made products like besan powder and moong powder as mentioned on my earlier post. Soap can be alternated with the powder as this sits soft on the skin.

There are different soaps available in the market, so choose the one to suit your skin. For oily skin and dry skin use a medicated soap with a herbal base. The supper fatted soaps contain fatty materials which prevent excessive stripping of surface oils. They also deposit an emollient film to replace some of the natural oils removed during the cleaning process. This is best used for a dry skin.
Another kind of soap is the transparent soap. These soaps are more expensive but they are for softening the skin. Glycerin is an ingredients used as soap which has property of attracting moisture to the skin. It is a natural by product obtained while making soap. It is also used in the manufactured of nourishing creams and lotions. Though good for the skin to retain moisture it is not included in many of the bathing soaps due to the high cost factor. It is a good solvent as it will not dissolve in water or alcohol but other things will dissolve on this.
A high glycerin content in the soap will make it dissolve more quickly in water which is a downside, but the clarity and softness that it gives the skin is well worth it.
