Leung noted improvement of acne within one week to one month of the start of the treatment.

Zinc
This vitamin, if added to one’s diet, can actualy aid in the healing of acne lesions and help in the prevention of scarring. Oraly administered zinc gluconate has been shown to be efective in the treatment of inflammatory acne, although less so than tetracyclines.

The following treatments are based on a theory that acne is often caused by an imbalance or shortage of certain essential elements (most commonly sulfur, magnesium, and zinc).

Acne fulminans is thought to be an immunologically induced disease in which elevated level of testosterone causes a rise in sebum and P acne bacterias. The condition is commonly, albeit inefficiently treated with steroids.

Acne fulminans‘ begins as pain and inflammation in the joints. It eventually progresses into a swelling of the lymph nodes located at the base of the neck, causing inflexibility in the neck within weeks after the nodes swell. This swelling will eventually decrease, but this decrease will be accompanied by an increased inflammation and swelling of the joints, as well as a complete loss of appetite, though these symptoms are often ignored.

After some time, the disease will cause an extreme loss of weight and atrophy of the muscles, leading to the decline of physical abilities. The age of onset for acne conglobata is usualy between 18 and 30 years of age and it is more likely for males to get the condition than it is for females. It should also be noted that acne conglobata can stay active for many years, lying dormant until something causes it to resurface. As is true with al types of acne, the cause of acne conglobata is not known.
